Tensions erupt between Al Qaida group 'Islamic state' (Split-off group from Jahbat al-Nusra) and Jahbat al-Akrad (PKK/YPG) in Tal Aran near Aleppo. This is a result of the fighting between YPG and Islamist insurgent groups in Efrin. Islamic state participated in this fight against YPG. The group kidnapped Mahmoud Sheikho from Jahbat al-Akrad.
